Penalty (Penalty Duet #1) Read online

She might be a fake girlfriend when it comes to the press but I don’t want that to be fake anymore. I want it real. I want all of her.

It goes against the fights and the strip clubs and the penalties and the puck bunnies and everything the name Brayson Rockwell has stood for.

But this is the woman for me.

And I’m going to do whatever I can to make her believe it.

  I’m a fighter, after all.

I just hope she realizes I’m in for a fight.

  A Note from the Author

Thank you so much for reading Penalty! I hope you had a nice escape reading this book – Brandy and Brayson’s adventures will conclude with POWER PLAY, out in Amazon’s KU on January 15th. If you would mind so much as to leave an honest review on Amazon for Penalty, I would REALLY appreciate it. Reviews help readers AND authors more than you know.

A little about the book: I was inspired to write Penalty and Power Play a long time ago. Specifically, back in 2011 when one of my favorite teams, The Vancouver Canucks, had a riot breakout when they tragically lost in game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals. Vancouver is a beautiful city, and being from the Pacific Northwest, the Canucks were the closest thing we had to a team, and I watched in horror as the fans revolted.

But one thing always stuck out in my mind. It was a famous photo of the riot, of a couple kissing on the street, having apparently fallen down, while the riot cops surround them. If you haven’t seen that photo, look it up, Google it. That photo inspired me, not only because it’s so romantic and cinematic looking but because of the story behind it.

Everyone had assumed that the couple in the photo were strangers who were sharing a passionate kiss amidst the chaos, sort of like a “we’re all going to die, might as well make the best of it” kind of moment. But the truth was that they were a real life couple and she had actually fallen down and he went down to save her. He wasn’t kissing her so much as he was comforting her.

Now, the opposite pretty much happens in Penalty but the point of it all is I wanted to explore what a photo taken at the right time can do and how the world can build up preconceived notions about history without ever knowing the real story behind it. The media can so easily make something seems eons away from the truth. How fascinating is that?

So that’s how Penalty was inspired by true events. I hope you like the twist I’ve taken. Brandy and Brayson’s HEA is around the corner, but there are a lot of sexy times, scandals and twists and turns to come!

And, just a special note dear reader, if you could leave a review for Penalty on Amazon, that would be MUCH appreciated. It’s hard for an author with her debut novel because I’m starting from square one without a fan base or contacts or anything, so a review will really go a long way toward helping me, as well as other readers.

Thank you so much!! I’ll (hopefully) see you on January 15th!
